Ian J. Wilson
Founder & CEO
Ian J. Wilson is a mining and business professional who’s worked for the largest multinational mining companies at their most significant and remote mine sites and for major mining supply houses for over 40 years.
Ian has held positions in maintenance, engineering, operations, business development and executive management and holds undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications related to these areas.
During the GFC he saw the need for more than the standard solutions provided by OEMs. There was the need and opportunity to unlock the value of process plant equipment and obtain the lowest TCO. In 2008 he founded his current business to look closely at process plant applications and how to optimise them.
This has grown into The Makuri Group, which now has customers globally and is an innovator of new technology targeted at the front end of the process plant.

About us
Our Guarantee Systems
When you spend as much time and effort developing the best materials and designs that we do, you can also offer the best guarantees too.We are proud to offer our industry-leading, best in class, 3-level guarantee system. These guarantees are shown in summary below and are also included in detail in our Standard Terms & Conditions for all goods supplied by us.
Level 1
Fit, Form, Function and Free of faulty workmanship and materials (5F) – Guarantee
Our Guarantee Systems
Level 1 - 5F Guarantee
This is a ‘best in class’ 5F industrial standard covering all Makuri products:
1. Fit:
We guarantee that the items supplied will connect to, mate with, or join to another part or parts within an assembly
2. Form:
We guarantee that components supplied will have the correct external dimensions, weight, size, labelling and visual appearance
3. Function
We guarantee that components supplied will perform their stated purpose effectively and reliably.
4. (free of) Faulty Workmanship and Faulty Materials
These guarantees cover any defects in materials and workmanship not covered by the first three guarantees that may arise
Level 2
Lowest cost per tonne (LC) – Guarantee
Our Guarantee Systems
Level 2 - LC Guarantee
Unless we are simply providing like-for-like replacement spare parts, Makuri will evaluate individual applications to determine current operating costs and then develops solutions that will outperform the current items on a cost-per-tonne basis.
Makuri’s design improvement process takes place over a number of stages. This minimises risk to the end user, and ensrues that the effect of any changes made can be fully evaluated. This allows us to guarantee that, by the third design iteration, the components supplied will be operating at the lowest cost per tonne (or per month, whichever is more convenient).
Most suppliers will tell you that their product gives the lowest cost per tonne, but only Makuri provides this as a guarantee.
Level 3
Lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) – Guarantee
Our Guarantee Systems
Level 3 - TCO Guarantee
Total Cost of Ownership extends well beyond simple ‘cost to buy’ considerations, which are often only 5-20% of the total cost of running an operation.
To evaluate this properly, site-specific models are required that account for site location and specific applications, as both core cost drivers and auxiliary drivers will vary.
Makuri works with its customers to develop site-specific models that can then be used to evaluate the true operating cost of a piece of equipment. Using this information, we can then develop designs around true operational costs that create measurable differences across the whole plant.
As with our Lowest Cost Per Tonne guarantee, we back up our work and gurantee to show lowest Total Cost of Ownership by the third design iteration.
