Primary Crusher Mantles
Primary crusher mantles come in all shapes and sizes, and their selection often relies simply on the personal preference of the end user or vendor. However, the wrong mantle design can severely impact a crusher’s throughput performance and damage the concave profile to the point where both may require early change-out to maintain acceptable production rates.
For this reason, Makuri doesn’t have a standard catalog of ‘belled’ or ‘straight’ liners. Instead, we design mantles to suit individual applications to perform as required, using the shape and design that best suits the installation being examined.
One question we are regularly asked is whether corrugated mantles are better than smooth ones. For the same reasons as those above, the answer depends on the individual application and the end user requirements. We specify smooth mantles for some applications and corrugated for others, the answer is simply what gives the customer the lowest overall Total Cost of Ownership.
- Using the wrong mantle in the wrong application
- Using a mantle that is not compatible with the concaves
- Incorrect sizing to achieve the required gap settings
