MAK-Hard Extreme Impact Alloy steel
MAK-Hard XAB6 is a medium-hardness low alloy steel that has been developed for middle row gyratory crusher concaves. It is liquid quenched and then tempered to between 400 and 450 BHN, depending on application requirements. The heat treatment process used provides a very consistent hardness throughout the casting thickness to ensure even wear properties.
Its high toughness resists the high impact loads that can occur when dumping into an empty crushing chamber, while providing a good balance between the high wear resistance of XAB7 material and the high impact resistance of MAK-Hard manganese steels.
XAB6 also finds application on the lower row of gyratory crushers where excessive steel is in the feed, as it is less likely to break than the longer-life, harder grades.
